The Process
First stage of the application is the application form, this can be found on the Adoption Form tab of the website. Once returned your application will be reviewed, if successful our rehoming team will be in touch within 72 hours to invite you to the next stage of the process. If you do not hear back in this time scale then unfortunately you have not been successful on this occasion.
Second stage of the application will be a home check. If you live in Cyprus the rehoming team will make contact to book a suitable time and date to carry out the check. If you live in a different country we will request a video walk round of your home and outside areas. We ask for a video to be sent rather than a video call walk round because in many cases the internet doesn't support an outdoor walk round. Your video will only be viewed by the rehoming manager and the manager of Polis Pound. A member of the team will make contact to give full detail of what the video needs to include and how to send it to us. Once this has been sent we will be in touch within 72 hours with feedback on the home check.
Third stage of the application will be a video call with the manager of Polis Pound and a member of the rehoming team. This call is a chance to really discuss the dog you have applied for to make sure they will be a good fit for the family. It is also a chance for us to go through some scenarios and really give you a honest insight on what it means to adopt a rescue from abroad. We want every family to know what this process will entail and make sure they are prepared and supported once their new dog arrives. After this call we will ask for a 24 hour thinking period. So both parties can really be sure this is the right decision for both the family and the dog.
Fourth stage of the application will be to pay a deposit to secure the adoption. From this point if the adopter decides to cancel the adoption the deposit is none refundable. As soon as the deposit is received your dog will be listed as reserved and booked on to our next available freedom flight! Then the countdown to gottcha day begins!

Our Adoption Donation Packages
Firstly - Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a Polis Pound Dog, we work so hard to rehabilitate all our dogs to prepare them to find their forever family! Due to the costs of travel and the fact we provide a high level of vet care to every dog our adoption donation is higher than some countries.
The cost of adoption
United Kingdom - £725
Netherlands and Germany - €600
( Cyprus Adoption below! )
Every adoption fee contributes towards the following:
The cost of transportation - travel to the airport, flight and courier included
Cost of the travel crate to be returned via courier to the pound.
Neutering (if old enough)
Puppy / DHPPI /Annual vaccinations
Rabies vaccination
De-worming - every 3 months while in our care
Anti-parasite treatment - every month while in our care
Microchipping
Regular veterinary checks prior to traveling
Parasite testing 4DX and Leishmanias
Brucellosis Laboratory testing
Government testing for Leishmanias
Any medical treatment as required, 4 weeks supply of medication supplied if needed
An official ‘Fit to Travel’ examination
A pet passport
Completion of all necessary paperwork, traces and travel documentation
Full support from our rehoming team before, during and after the adoption process
We ask for £200 / €200 deposit to secure the adoption, then the remainder of the balance is due 14 days before the flight
Local Adoption - Cyprus
Under 6 months €195 Over 6 months and neutered €245
